As a family of four adults, we look for spacious accommodation when we travel. We love each other dearly but we also like our space so we can spread out. As many of our regular readers will know, it’s not easy to find accessible apartment accommodation. So we were particularly pleased to discover on a recent trip to the Gold Coast that ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach offers two bedroom accessible accommodation. And the best bit, it comes with stunning ocean views.
ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach – accessible Gold Coast accommodation
ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach is a modern apartment complex with all the mod-cons you could hope for. Like many modern buildings, bedrooms are smaller than those of older properties so although this property is accessible, I feel it best suits a person with some mobility. Hopefully the photos and information which follows will assist you in deciding if ULTIQA Signature is right for your accessible Gold Coast stay.
We love apartment accommodation because it allows us to prepare some meals and have access to washing facilities. While I’m only too happy to leave the daily chores behind, we find these conveniences make for smoother and more budget-friendly travels. The two bedroom apartment at ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach offers a kitchen and washing machine and dryer a lounge room and two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Yes, that means, there was less waiting for the bathroom in the mornings when we were all clamouring to get out the door.
A full-size fridge, microwave, stove top and wheelchair accessible sink are provided in the kitchen. We didn’t use the kitchen bench on wheels so we popped that in the corner of the apartment to allow greater circulation space for Braeden.
A sliding door separates the lounge room from the bedroom where guests will find a king-bed, which can be split into two beds if needed. This lovely light and airy main bedroom also has a sliding door, which is operated by a press button automatic remote button (think garage door remote control type of fob) and step-free access to the verandah and outdoor seating.
Main bedroom facts – bed height 55cm, clearance from the side of the bed to the glass sliding door 65cm, clearance on left side of the bed (as you look at it) 51cm. Verandah sliding door opening is 94cm.
A spacious accessible ensuite adjoins the main bedroom. The ensuite is equipped with a shower bench, height-adjustable shower head, toilet with back-rest and grab rails throughout.
Lever taps are fitted and the wash basin allows for a wheelchair user to access it. A vanity cupboard is provided for storing toiletries and towel rails are at a lowered level.
Bathroom facts – ensuite to bedroom clearance 90cm, height of toilet seat 48cm, height of toilet to pan 44cm, shower bench 48cm.
A twin-bedded second bedroom is located on the opposite side of the lounge room and accessed by a sliding door.
Twin-bedded second bedroom facts – bed height 56cm, clearance from bed to wardrobe is 32cm, room between beds can vary according to whether you move them but for our stay was 62cm and space from second bed to window 60cm. Clearance under the bed 7cm.
An ensuite bathroom adjoins the twin-bedded room.
The apartment offers great storage with a large linen cupboard in the entry foyer and the washing machine and dryer are discreetly tucked away in another cupboard next to the kitchen.

ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach accessible facilities
ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach offers the only rooftop infinity pool in Broadbeach and the views are spectacular, particularly at sunset. A lift takes guests to the rooftop where there is step-free entry into the pool area.
ULTIQA Signature offers a pool hoist which can be fitted by staff in either the pool or the spa area of the recreational area. You do need to request this and I suggest discussing it at the time of booking and perhaps letting staff know when you’ll want to have the option of a swim (the days you might be staying in for example) just to ensure it is set up for you.
The rooftop area is spacious and the pool offers guests the option of swimming undercover or basking in the sun whilst having a splash.
The outdoor kitchen area is perfect for a barbecue and offers plenty of circulation space and seating.
Queensland’s sunshine is hard to ignore but for the odd rainy day, or for a chilled evening, ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach offers guests exclusive use of a cinema room. Big lounges, bean bags and plenty of space to move around makes this a must book experience.
It’s free to book the cinema but make sure you plan ahead as this is a popular spot for guests and during our stay it was hard to find a time when it wasn’t in use to have a peek. Guests are able to access DVDs or use their own device to screen favourite shows or movies to the big screen.
Undercover car parking is available at Ultiqa and the car park clearance is 2.2m.
Nearby accessible attractions
ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach has an ideal location for guests looking to leave the car behind and enjoy activities which are in a walkable or wheelable distance. At the end of the street there is the level and accessible Esplanade. It’s the perfect spot for an early morning or evening stroll or just to sit and watch the waves rolling in. We loved having the ocean nearly at our doorstep.
If watching the ocean from afar isn’t your thing, then get that sand between your toes by borrowing the free to loan Sandcruiser beach wheelchair from the Kurrawa Surf Club which is also just at the end of the street.
The Changing Places bathroom right next door to Kurrawa Surf Club provides facilities that I imagine make a day at the beach easier for many.
As with all Changing Places bathrooms a MLAK key is required to open the bathroom (if you want to know how to get one then read this review).
The Changing Places bathroom is equipped with an adult-sized change table, hoist, grab rails throughout and a privacy screen.
Also at the end of the street from ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach is the fenced Kurrawa all-abilities playground which includes equipment such as a basket swing, an accessible submarine play piece and maze. The Changing Places bathroom and surf club are beside the playground so this is a real hub of accessible wonderfulness.
Kurrawa all-abilities playground has picture communication boards dotted around the play space. I’d love for these to be updated and not be located so low to the ground but I’m happy to see them installed.
If, like me, you don’t mind turning your hand to a spot of shopping, Pacific Fair is within walking and wheeling distance too. We took Braeden shopping one afternoon and found it a totally manageable and enjoyable walk. The shopping centre has everything from high end well-known brands to small individual retailers. Just keep in mind while you are shopping that if you buy too much you may need to catch an Uber or taxi home.
The accessible light rail is also handy and not far away.
Broadbeach is a fantastic location as a base for exploring the Gold Coast but it’s also a good place to chill and enjoy the local amenities too.
ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach provided a comfortable stay for us. It’s hard to get everything in one property and ideally we would have loved the bedrooms to be a little larger and thanks to our lounge lizard Braeden we could have had more lounge space. The property’s facilities are exceptional and the location was ideal for us.
We were hosted for the majority of our stay but did pay for additional nights accommodation so we could enjoy a few bonus days on the Gold Coast. As always, our opinions are based on our experience and we hope that our photos and information will allow you to decide if the property is right for you.
You can find out more about ULTIQA Signature at Broadbeach on its website.
